Event Styling: Winter Themed Events

Event Styling: Winter Themed Events

The heat in Australia is rising. This does not mean that you can’t throw a winter themed event. A winter wonderland can be magical, so why would you not want it for your next event? If you are looking for some tips on how to style your next winter themed event, look no further.

Light it Up

You can set the mood of an event simply through your lighting. A blue light can make your room appear to be cooler. Adding yellow lights can be used to replicate the natural light and bring a sense of warmth. Candlelight can make your event seem enchanted when mixed with the blue.

A Magical Forest

Winter signifies a change in the appearance of trees and forests. You can replicate this feeling in your styling. The use of twigs and branches can bring about a feeling of being in a magical forest.  You can also combine the use of twigs and branches with lighting. You can hang strings of lights from branches to mimic snow and icicles. White and green foliage intermixed with the twigs and branches can keep your styling crisp and clean.

A Touch of Ice

Nothing says winter more than frosty cold ice. You could be like everyone else and add an ice sculpture. It would look pretty cool, but not very original.

Why not consider the following:
Clear glass candle holders
Pillars that look like it is made from blocks of ice
Crystal chandeliers
Clear plastic chairs that look like you could be sitting on a chair made from ice

Mix in some Texture

You don’t want your event to be completely cold. You can add warmth through the use of textures.  Adding texture will make your styling pop.  Using fur to cover ghost seats made what could have been icy and cold into a warm and comfortable area to sit. White carpet on a glassy floor can also have this effect. Grey or white silk used as table covers can allow you to have a smooth and flow effect while maintaining the cool atmosphere. Mix and match our textures to create your magical winter wonderland. You can also weave lengths of silk, tulle or other material through the backs of a standard wooden chair to add texture.

Drape it

Draping white tulle, lace or other material can bring a sense of warmth to an otherwise cold event. Draping from the roof can make your guests feel closer to each other. Draping can be placed over pillars that don’t suit your theme and make the styling look even more beautiful.

If your event wants to look a little more casual you could use blankets to drape over large sofas. This will bring texture and make your styling more interesting. If you place this in front of an open fireplace you could add a winter by the fire dimension to your styling.

Alpine Forest Details

You can add some colour and texture by using details you would see in an alpine forest. These are still a part of the winter theme as you will only see them during winter. Antlers, nuts, berries, and acorns can bring an earthy feel to a winter theme. The colours of the berries can bring warmth to your styling. The green foliage that can be found in alpine forests can bring an added depth to your colour palette.

Let it, Snow,

Just like ice, snow can bring an immediate wintery feel to your event. You can bring an illusion of snow using frosted glasses to drink from. Hanging icicle lights can also bring a snowy feel to your event. Spray painting leaves and other decorations in a white or silver colour can bring a snowy feel.

Fire

While you might think to have a fire as styling isn’t quite winter styling think again. When it is a cold winter’s evening you sit near a fireplace to warm up. Featuring styling aspects that make your guests reminisce about winter is a part of a winter theme.

Tips for Successful Corporate Event Planning

Tips for Successful Corporate Event Planning
A successful event doesn’t just happen overnight, it needs a clear objective, planning, and dedication. Whether it is a birthday party, conference, a ceremony or a seminar, your event’s success depends upon the dedication you provide. Organising a corporate event that is informative yet is enjoyable for the attendees can be a daunting task. Not until the actual planning and execution do one realise that there are many things to consider about, from the fold of the napkin on a table to sound systems to decorations to foods and beverages.
Here we bring you the tips for successful event planning.

1. Audiences the most important factor in an event. While planning a corporate event, you need to decide on the target audience. If you are planning an electronic gadgets’ launch event, you need to call upon the tech industries audience. Knowing your target audience will help you achieve your specific goals and objectives and also remain focused on the event.

2. Detail is the key, make a shortlist of details, from the fold of the napkins to lighting to parking facility to content and refreshments. Every detail matters. Audience tends to notice everything including good and bad aspects of the event and will attribute everything to you and your brand.

3. Have a clear goal in mind, a clear business purpose for holding the event. Before starting to plan an event, a planner needs to be clear about what the event is about. If you are hiring an event planner you need to brief them extensively about the event details because every decision after that should support your main goal. And make sure everyone involved is aware and clear about the “GOAL”.

4. Budget is important. Keep a tight budget, but be flexible where you need to spend. Don’t overpay. Set up a healthy margin.

5. Pick out a theme. As most corporate events tend to be fancy and theme oriented, you may want to pick out a theme that defines your event. For example, a renaissance ball type theme for a fundraising event, recently “La La Land” the musical movie party’s theme was lighting the world alight. When picking out the theme, just remember to keep the main objective of the event in mind and make sure the theme doesn’t distract from the “Goal” of the event.

6. Choose a smart date. Do an extensive research on the calendar and pick out a smart date. Make sure your event date doesn’t collide with the holidays or popular vacation season. No one wants to attend your event when they are waiting for the much needed vacation. And don’t pick out a colliding date with another popular event, this can affect your attendance record.

7. Choose a venue. A venue perfect for the event is as important as the event itself. No one wants to attend an event which is not easily accessible and is not around the proper location. Visit the venue yourself, imagine it in your theme setup with guests. Don’t book the venue until and unless it meets your needs.

8. Social Media. Modern day has brought quite a few changes, major ones at that in the world of marketing. People tend to believe more what’s on the internet than any other thing. We spend more time on the internet than talking to each other. Conventional marketing is still important, but you need to use the power of social media to reach a greater no.of audiences. Host an event tab on social media, create pages, and host a YouTube channel where you can promote your event through influential speakers.

9. The royalties! I don’t mean the real royalties but the sponsors. They are the real royalties. They are the ones who fund your event, and it’s because of them that you are able to host it. Treat them as such, and be very clear when proposing the event what they will get as sponsors.

10. The voice. Pick out a good speaker for your event, the one who understands your goal. Good speakers are the element that make your guest interested in your event. Nobody wants to listen to a lousy and boring speech throughout the day. Pick a powerful one with the clear voice and leadership skills who can drive the crowd forward.

11. Bible. Create an event bible where you can log every single detail about the event like contact details, pricing, guest lists, food and beverages. Make it something that you can call upon if ever needed. It can help you keep tabs on the event structure and also you will be able to get involved in the event directly.

12. Service is crucial. Put out a separate table where guests can attend if they need to consult about anything.

13. Final, give a good show. That’s what all guests want. Don’t bore them with technical talks and jargon. Yes, it is a corporate event but nobody wants to be technical the whole event. Pepper some humorous stuff in between the main talk/speech, add a dash of personality and don’t forget to make it relatable. This is important because one of the objectives of any corporate event is to successfully make a connection with the guests. So, make them feel like they would want to attend all your future events.

5 Things to Consider when hiring an event planner

event planner

So, you want to make your event a great success and have decided to hire an event planner. But now you are faced with a problem - how in the world are you going to decide on which event planner to hire in order to organise your event? To help you out, we have compiled here the 5 most important things to consider when hiring an event planner. Take a look.

1. Creative and innovative

Look for an event planner who is creative and innovative if you want your event to be one of a kind and a huge success. The event planner should not only come up with these new ideas and concept which will fit your vision for the event to a T, he/she should also be able to pull it off effortlessly. Rather than hiring an event planner who is just an average Joe in the industry, employ the help of the master in the art of event management. It can be a company or an individual who is capable of creating an event like no other. They are the ones who can create an event for you that your guests will remember fondly and talk about when attending similar events in the future.

2. Detail oriented and driven

When you decide to hire an event planner, find someone or an event management company who have an eye for detail. Get the people from such an event management company that love challenges, and who never backs down from any hurdles thrown at them, rather they excel at it. Keeping tabs on all the aspects of the event as well as logistics and people who are willing to work grueling hours to ensure that the event runs without a hitch are the ones you want to get.

3. Within your time and budget

There is always the time and budget limitations when organising an event. Your event is no exception. That’s the reason why when hiring an event planner you should appoint the one who understands your time and budget constraints, and has the experience to organise the event within those limitations. You should also keep in mind that there should be an open two way communication between you and the event planner, both of you should be able to convey any changes to the event when needed with ease.

4. A partner and a team player

When you hire an event planner, you know all the hard work concerning the event will be taken care of by them. However, the most important thing to remember is that you the final decision maker. What you say goes. You want an event planner who will take into account, your vision for the event, what you want it to be as well as your feelings about the event, and lets you make the ultimate decision regarding the event. So, get someone who is willing to work for you but most importantly work alongside you.

5. Peace of mind

Now isn’t that the main reason why you want an event planner to handle the event in the first place? You should find someone with whom you have full confidence and feel comfortable enough to let them plan and execute the event on your behalf. They handle and solve any issues that may arise in the course of time. This way you can focus on your guests and other important matters of your business.

Well these were the 5 most important things to look for when hiring an event planner. Hope this information helps you when deciding on which event planner or event management company to go with. You should be able to organise your future events with the event planner who will raise the bar even higher.
